Welcome. I wanted to provide stripboard layouts I've made to help people new to electronics and even the more experienced get into different aspects of electronics.

I verify the layouts before I post them.

Simple Forward/Reverse Motor Controller Stripboard Veroboard

this is a pretty simple build, I needed something to control a motors speed and direction with just one potentiometer so I came up with this - essentially it is 2 555 timers bridged together so that when you turn the pot one way the frequency on the first one increases and the second decreases and vice versa - it outputs a PWM signal so you may need to use a smoothing capacitor on the Motor (non polarized of course)
when the pot reaches the center position it will stop.
I'm sure this will have many more uses too.

  1. hi! i built this layout today, but have a question.
I used a 100K pot, but it doesn't control the direciton. It just goes from slow (which is till fast) to fast. What could this be?
The other thing is that it (as said) doesn;t go really slow. The slowest speed is still quite fast. Again, what could this be. (I used the vero layout above)

    1. Update: it does control direction, but it works only 2 or 3 times. after that it just keeps going in the same direction (and on normal speed, despite turning the potmeter)
      Any ideas?

    2. I'm really not sure - my only guess is that you might have put the steering diodes in wrong. this is a project I still use (for my nephews train controller) so I know it's long term reliable - all I can suggest is that you go over and check everything again, make sure there's no solder bridges on the board (that's happened to me a lot)

    3. thanks for the reply! I will try and check everything again. Hopefully I'll find something stupid! :) Keep up the good work!
