My good friend Dan White-Lock Jones sent me one of his amps to play around with so the 1st thing I did was add my favorite effect - the treble booster. I laid it out on tagboard to fit in with the rest of the amps insides so I thought that I would share it here.
the amp itself is a 2 channel beast - 1 channel is voxy and the other is a stripped back dumble. it's worth noting that Dan thoughtfully puts bleed resistors on the HT capacitors so there are no nasty surprises waiting inside!
Hello again paul . As i have gotten older , i have changed my playing style . i no longer use high gain 100 . i have completely fallen for treble boosters . right now my favorite unit has a mullard 950 . its a rangemaster with a couple of input caps on a pot . my issue is the hiss . which TB circuit would YOU recommend that I should i try next , one which would perhaps offer less hiss for me ? thank you so much for your work . i am one of those people who does not sell or trade gear . i read the post explaining your feelings and i can only say , i do not blame you at all . i also like to run a secondary boost , AFTER the rangemaster , i have a 3 in one box . it has a built in li ion power pack , RM , a demeter fat control ( mid boost) and lastly there is a EP boost that is modified for extended low freq enhancement . i tend to run the RM in tandem with one of the other , to bring back some of the low end . my hiss problem is not related to the other secondary boost , it is the rangemaster . i have tried quite a few transistors , and RM varients . i am kind of at wits end , but in the context of the entire song , you dont really hear the hiss , its solo guitar playing . i would still like to figure this out but i also realize my folly , its kind of like i am asking for water thats not wet . anyway i hope you are well and making loads of music . sincerely Petey Twofinger
