  1. Hi, Paul. I'm following your work in this blog for a lot of time. You,ve helped a lot with your vero layouts. I hate that my first comment be for trying to improve your work, but that's it.
This design for an electret preamp is known to be very bad. The transistor is misbiased, it has no bass at all and is painfully noisy. I couldn't use it with none of my electret capsules. You have to substitute the capacitors(both of them) for at least 1uF ones, change 100k resistor for 220k ant the 10k between the colector and +v for 1k.
I hope this can help you end other people.
    Thank you and regards.

  2. it worked for whatever I was using it as at the time - it was actually based on the input part of a microcassette dictaphone (think wargames) however I'm sure your suggestions will come in handy for anyone who want to get better a performance out of it

  5. if you use the mods as suggested by user " unlnown" who posted on the 19th of february i would also suggest a much higher value of pot or trimmer , 300k-1m depending . i did the mods , noticable difference - more bass . thanks again Paul .
